How IsaMill™ works

The IsaMill™ is horizontal so its product discharge is not fighting gravity like a vertical grinding mill can. This means it avoids short circuits, it can start under load and it maximises availability. IsaMill™ is the only horizontal tertiary grinding mill in the world. 

It’s safe and easy to maintain. It’s not suspended, so you never work under suspended loads. You just slide it open. The IsaMill™ is also light. It’s evolved to just one level, with an incredibly small volume of concrete and structural steel. This means it’s about a third the height and weight of some other grinding mills.

More power than other grinding mills 

The IsaMill™ is incredibly efficient and intense. With 8 grinding discs, evenly distributed energy, superior grinding media and a centrifugal grinding flow, it can have much more power than equivalent ball or vertical mills. You can draw full power with an IsaMill™ which you cannot do with any vertical mill or you run the risk of losing media from the top. What's more, less residence time is required, so there's less wasteful regrinding which allows the IsaMill™ to be more energy-efficient and cost-effective.

Small footprint 

The IsaMill™ footprint is about the same as a vertical mill, since both types require access areas. However the IsaMill™ is less than half the height, requires less in civil works and therefore fits nicely into smaller areas and under lower ceiling heights.

More consistent product size 

IsaMill™ creates a more consistent product size because of the staged grinding process and horizontal layout. This means the product is more consistent and doesn’t need re-processing

Easy to Maintain

The IsaMill™ is designed with safety and ease of maintenance in mind. It just slides open to reveal the discs. No working under suspended loads. You can start an IsaMill™ under load, which you cannot do with a vertical mill. Vertical mills need to be emptied before startup, losing you time and causing extra work. The IsaMill™ starts up straight away.
